THE APPLE’S DECAY

The AI continuously describes the apple in front of it, with the generated text simulating the state of the apple during this period.

During the exhibition, the apple is a constantly changing set of events. When the first rot spot forms, the artificial intelligence may not have noticed the change yet, still describing a fresh apple. However, when fragmented speech begins to mix with adjectives about "decay," the change has already occurred.

In this process, observation and language can never catch up with the event itself. The very apple, the description of language, and the observer, among these three, the implied "decay" serves as a monument reminding us of the misalignment between human cognition, machine cognition, and the real world.

AI不断描述眼前的苹果，持续生成的文字是对苹果该段时间内状态的模拟。展览期间的苹果是不断变化的事件集合体，第一个斑点形成时，人工智能或许还未察觉到变化，仍在描述新鲜的苹果，而当碎片化的描述开始掺杂关于“腐烂”的形容词时，变化已经发生了。这个过程中观察与语言永远无法追上事件本身。苹果、语言的描述、观察者，三者中隐含的 “腐烂”作为纪念碑提示着人的认知、机器认知与真实世界间的错位。
